Hi and welcome! I am Elizabeth Easton, a compassionate and proud lifelong resident of the San Francisco Bay Area. I am also the founder of A New Door Opens. As a certified death doula (also known as an end-of-life doula)I would love to help support and walk with you as you plan for and live an end-of-life that is deeply meaningful and highly personalized to you and your wishes.
What I Can Offer You
I somehow knew the very first time that I saw the words “death doula” that this was something that our world desperately needed and something I was called to do. The deeper I go in my work as a death doula, the more I have realized how true this revelation is. A few years ago I was diagnosed with a life-limiting illness which brought the concept of death and dying well into very sharp focus. I also spent decades in corporate America building companies, managing people and projects and most importantly, improving the customer experience. And every one of those skills and experiences have proven important as I have helped my clients research, plan, design and prepare for their dying. Dying is perhaps the most personal conscious moment we have and I truly believe that every person deserves for that to be exactly what they wish, whenever possible.
PLANNING
Planning can happen at any stage of life (the earlier the better!)
• Helping to find lawyers and to consider wills, trusts, medical directives, powers of attorney etc.
• Discussions of end-of-life preferences for burial, cremation, aquamation, green burial etc.
• Discussions/documentation of end-of-life comfort. Ex: would you prefer to be at home? Who would you like to have around?
• Discussions of listing/gathering important items and documents in one centrally located place – making it a simpler transition for loved ones
• Consideration of legacy – what (if anything) would you like to leave behind?
